The Great Pyramid - A Monument for all of us » News

The Egyptian pyramids were built for eternity but only for one single person. The new Pyramids we suggest, are open to every individual. As monumental as they are affordable, they serve as a tomb or memorial for those of all nationalities and religions: A MONUMENT FOR ALL OF US

Yesterday, my former colleague Ingo Niermann posted a little text, that surprised me, since it is full of obvious, verifiable inaccuracies - to put it nicely - and falls far short of the usual coherent standard of his work.

The documentary Frauke Finsterwalder and her team shot in 2007/2008 when we introduced the project for the first time, has premiered in the competition section of the Saarbrücken Max-Ophüls-Preis film festival last Thursday. It was a good event for several reasons. Firstly, it turned out great. Not everybody was entirely sure what the result would be and it took long hard work to finish the movie – but in the end it became a fascinating record of those busy and exhausting one and a half years, that also does not ...

We have a relaunch, a complete one actually: a new website, a new approach and a new team coming together. The Great Pyramid project was dead since I had left the association and I just couldn´t accept to see the idea going down or being hi-jacked as some conceptual media art project. Throughout the remaining weeks of 2009 we will ...

German news agency dpa ran a story about the Great Pyramid earlier this week, here in German or there in English. The headline and intro spectacularizes the potential size again, but still the piece is factually correct. Since a couple of people seemed unsure of potential legal impediments, we were particularly glad to see this bit published:

"The German Association of Undertakers in Dusseldorf believes the idea is feasible. 'It is a community burial ground like any other. If local authorities ... '

When Sweden´s leading free daily METRO published a piece about the Great Pyramid in March, they asked their online readers to vote whether they would consider the Pyramid for themselves. We found the outcome quite impressive and made the screenshot above.

The Pyramid got a 52% Yes-response from Sweden. Sure, technically this is not a representative survey and the site didn´t say anything about the sample size, but since we ...

Last Monday night culminated in these three numbers when Jens and Ingo presented the Great Pyramid project at Kunsthochschule Kassel (Kassel Art School) upon invitation of Oliver Vogt, chair in industrial design there. Oliver on his part invited Philipp Oswalt, professor of architectural theory at the school, to join us on the panel to discuss the Pyramid with the fifty-or-so visitors that evening. As usual, Jens first gave a thirty minute presentation; Oliver, Philipp and Ingo then ...
